Mary's Meals is a registered charity, formerly known as Scottish International Relief, which sets up school feeding programmes in some of the world's poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education.

MARY'S MEALS NEWS

(16/09/18)

The 2018/19 Mary’s Meals Magazine has arrived and there will be copies available at the back of the church. The stories and messages in the magazine are both heart-warming and inspiring. The centre pages of the magazine will be of particular interest to the children. Please take one home and read about all the good work you help to make possible by your donation.   Don’t worry if we run out of magazines as we can always order more.  Thank you again for your continued support

(03/09/18)

A letter thanking the parish for the recent donation of £200 is on the notice board at the back of the church. Please take a few minutes to read this moving and heartfelt letter. If you need to buy a present for a birthday or anniversary or perhaps in someone’s memory. Please consider a donation to MARY’S MEALS.
It only takes £13.90 to feed and educate a child for a year. Simply buy the appropriate card and we will provide a sticker to go inside the card which says that you have made a donation in their name. Samples of the cards with stickers inside are on the noticeboard. Thank you again for your continued support.

(12/08/18)

A donation of £200 has been sent to MARY’S MEALS: £47 of this was raised on the day of the 3 Harbours Arts Festival performed at St Gabriel’s with donations  made for Tea/Coffee and home
baking. The remainder of the money was private donations.
Perhaps you need to give a Birthday or Anniversary present or you would like to do something in another memory. Why not give a donation to
MARY’S MEALS. £13.90 feeds and schools a
child for a year.
Thank you all for your continued support.

A letter thanking the parish and school for their generous donation of 135 Backpacks is on the notice board at the back of the church. For many children who receive a donated Backpack, it will be the only gift they have ever been given. Thank you again for your continued support.

(03/06/18)

The total Backpacks collected in the recent Backpack project was 135. This was a joint effort between St Gabriel’s Primary School and the Parish and it produced a great result. Thank you to all who took part both school and parishioners. Well done and on behalf of MARY’S MEALS thank you for your continued support.

Back Pack project is a simple way to help children in the poorest countries in the world. Very often children we support don’t even have basic things like pens and note pads to allow them to make the most of their education. You can help solve this problem by filling a satchel or backpack new or old and in good condition with some everyday educational items. Along with the free school meal that MARY’S MEALS provides the back packs we send will enable children to attend school and gain an education that can help them escape poverty when they grow up. The collection will take place on Saturday 19th May and Sunday 20th May. Please bring your backpacks to church on these dates.  There will be two sample backpacks at the back of the church this weekend also information leaflets about how to fill your backpack will be available after both masses. Please remember don’t put anything in the backpack that is not on the list as this can cause problems. Please label your backpack clearly boy or girl and the age between 4years to 12 years. If you have a backpack but cannot fill it bring it along to mass,  or if you have items needed to fill a backpack but no backpack bring them to mass next week. If you have any questions phone Gemma on 01875 815458.

The sum of £1150-00 has recently been sent to Marys Meals. £1000-00 of this money was a donation by a parishioner who wishes to remain anonymous. The thank you letter from Marys Meals is on the notice board at the back of the church. Thank you all for your generosity and continued support.

(25/02/18)

Many of the parishioners who have donated money to Mary’s Meals in the past few months have done so instead of giving a birthday or anniversary present or in someone’s memory or just a simple thank you for a kindness. Some people have said it would be nice to have some token to give to the person whose name the donation was being made in. On the notice board at the back of the church there is an assortment of greeting cards and inside the cards are stickers which read:   “A donation has been made in your name which will help to feed and educate child in the poorest countries in the world”. These stickers are available to anyone who wishes to make a donation to Marys Meals as a gift to another person, and remember if you pay income tax Gift Aid forms are also available. Thank you for your support.
